Several successful projects have been carried out by the active initiative group at our school. One of these projects was the “Heritage Tourism: Remembering the Past, Shaping the Future” competition, organized by the National University of Georgia for school students. Our school’s students created a one-day tour called “The Story of Laz” as part of this competition, and it won the award for “Best Ethno Tour”.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The idea to participate in the small grant competition announced by the Center for Education Development and Employment was inspired by the struggles of the people living in Sarp. This beautiful village is home to the inhabitants of historical Lazeti who speak the Lazu language, which is part of the Georgian language group. Since 2011, UNESCO has classified the Laz language, along with Megrul and Svanur, as a “clearly endangered” language. Unfortunately, the majority of people who spoke Lazu in the village were from the older generation. Young people are slowly forgetting or do not know the Laz language, which is in danger of disappearing.<\/div>\n

Through this project, we hope to encourage the school community to raise awareness about volunteering and to form an active civil society. By doing so, we can protect and preserve our cultural heritage.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
