On March 15th, the Education Development and
\nEmployment Center (EDEC) held the kick-off event of the project “EU4Youth
\n– Enhancing Youth Education, Employment, and Participation in Conflict-Affected
\nAreas in Georgia and Ukraine\u201d in Gori.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Lika Kiladze, Chairperson of the Board of
\nEducation Development and Employment Center (EDEC) delivered a speech about the
\nobjectives of the project.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

“Promoting Entrepreneurial Education is a
\nreal social demand as young people have the potential to create new services
\nand products. In addition, the project contributes to vocational education and
\nemployment of youth. One of the major challenges today is the incompatibility
\nbetween employers\u2019 demands and job seekers\u2019 skills. In response to these
\nchallenges, the best way is the implementation of dual education programs. The EU
\nand European people provided us with this opportunity,\u201c said Lika Kiladze<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

The project “EU4Youth – Enhancing Youth
\nEducation, Employment, and Participation in Conflict-Affected Areas in Georgia
\nand Ukraine,\u201d aims to widen education, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities
\nfor internally displaced persons and conflict-affected youth, and encourages
\ntheir significant participation in the community.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

As part of the project, entrepreneurial schools
\nwill be established in Zugdidi and Gori. The schools will provide 80
\nindividuals with the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills and receive
\nknowledge. In order to improve their business ideas, school attendees will
\nreceive individual, needs-based consultations, mentorship, and coach supervision.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, study programs based on demand
\nprofessions in the labor market will be prepared. 270 individuals will have the
\nchance to gain professional experience in a real working environment, become
\ninvolved in paid internship programs and receive a certificate as proof of
\ntheir theoretical and practical knowledge.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside the representatives of civil and state
\ninstitutions, media and business sectors, up to 100 internally displaced
\npersons and conflict-affected young people will advocate for youth education,
\nemployment, and self-employment processes.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives of the local and central
\ngovernment(s) attended the event. At the end of the event, the Memorandum of
\nCooperation was signed between the Education Development and Employment Center
\n(EDEC) and the company “Jibe” (Georgian for \u201cPocket\u201d)<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The project \u201cEU4Youth -Enhancing Youth
\nEducation, Employment, and Participation in Conflict-Affected Areas in Georgia
\nand Ukraine\u201d is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Center
\n(EDEC) and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with financial assistance from the
