A Regional Civil Society Forum was held in
\nAkhaltsikhe, at Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, to present the activities
\nof local CSOs and to promote volunteerism. <\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Lika Kiladze, Chairperson of the Education
\nDevelopment and Employment Center (EDEC), Temur Jaliashvili, representative of
\nthe project \u201dGeorgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative,\u201d and Maka
\nBeridze, Rector of Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, gave speeches throughout
\nthe event. Later on, Lado Apkhazava, the winner of the National Teacher’s Award,
\nand writer Tatuli Gvinianidze, both also speakers at the forum, discussed the
\nimportance of volunteerism.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, participants had the
\nopportunity to learn more about the bilateral volunteerism platform TimeBank as
\nwell as up to twenty local CSOs; their focuses range from ethnic minorities,
\nsupporting formal and informal education, empowerment of persons with special
\nneeds, gender-related issues to the support of small businesses.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

The forum was organized in the frame of the
\nproject \u201dGeorgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative\u201d. It was developed
\nand is implemented by a consortium led by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in
\ncooperation with four Georgian Civil Society Organizations: the Civil Society
\nInstitute (CSI), the Center for Training and Consultancy (CTC), the Center for
\nStrategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG) and the Education
\nDevelopment and Employment Center (EDEC). The initiative is funded by the European
