{"id":9870,"date":"2020-06-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-04T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/edec.ge\/online-meeting-on-developing-the-capabilities-of-councils-working-for-people-with-disabilities-and-the-challenges-posed-by-the-covid-19-pandemic\/"},"modified":"2020-11-12T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-11-11T20:00:00","slug":"online-meeting-on-developing-the-capabilities-of-councils-working-for-people-with-disabilities-and-the-challenges-posed-by-the-covid-19-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edec.ge\/en\/online-meeting-on-developing-the-capabilities-of-councils-working-for-people-with-disabilities-and-the-challenges-posed-by-the-covid-19-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"Online meeting on \u201cDeveloping the capabilities of Councils working for people with disabilities and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The meeting was attended by heads and members of councils<br \/>\nfor people with disabilities, and by representatives of PwD communities from six<br \/>\nmunicipalities of Imereti \u2013 Kutaisi, Sachkhere, Terjola, Baghdati, Samtredia<br \/>\nand Zestaponi; it was led by Lika Kiladze, Chairperson of the Board of the Education<br \/>\nDevelopment and Employment Center (EDEC).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As part of the event, Giga Sopromadze, Executive Secretary<br \/>\nof the Tbilisi Municipal Council for Persons with Disabilities, presented<br \/>\n&#8220;Guidelines for the Establishment and Effective Operation of the Council<br \/>\nfor people with disabilities&#8221; created within the frames of the project<br \/>\n\u201cEqual opportunities for people with disabilities.\u201d The purpose of the guideline is to promote the fulfillment of all obligations under the UN<br \/>\nConvention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, and to increase the<br \/>\neffectiveness of activities carried out by government agencies to support<br \/>\npeople with disabilities.<o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The discussion was held within the framework of the EU-funded<br \/>\nproject \u201cEqual Opportunities for People with Disabilities.\u201d It is implemented<br \/>\nby Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Georgia (ASB Georgia) in cooperation with its<br \/>\npartner organizations, the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC)<br \/>\nand the Accessible Environment for Everyone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The meeting was attended by heads and members of councils for people with disabilities, and by representatives of PwD communities from six municipalities of Imereti \u2013 Kutaisi, Sachkhere, Terjola, Baghdati, Samtredia and Zestaponi; it was led by Lika Kiladze, Chairperson of the Board of the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC).
