The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia H.E. Hubert Knirsch visited EDEC

On June 17, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia H.E. Hubert Knirsch visited the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC). The German diplomat met with the team of the organization and got acquainted with the activities of the center.

The Education Development and Employment Center has been implementing various projects in cooperation with German governmental bodies and German organizations for years. EDEC is currently working on 5 different projects in partnership with the German side. Among them is the implemented and ongoing projects which aim to establish a new profession on the Georgian labor market – the so-called Hausmeister. The project is implemented in cooperation with the organization the Housing Initiative for Eastern European (IWO e.V) with the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office.

In addition, the organization collaborates with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) and Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in various projects in the areas of economic development and civil society development.

EDEC also collaborates with the Renovabis (German Catholic Solidarity Initiative in Central and Eastern Europe). With the organization’s support, after the COVID-19 crisis – from September 2020, the EDEC-administered “Day Care Centers for Persons with Disabilities and Children (all four centers) became operational in full compliance with COVID-19 regulations. Renovabis fully funded the purchase of all virus prevention items within a year, enabling us to continue to provide services to children and persons with disabilities in a safe environment.

Another partner German organization is the Bread for the World. With its support, two professionals joined the EDEC team as volunteers. Their involvement and exchange of professional competencies significantly help the organization to achieve its mission and goals.
