“Youth is a period of setting our goals, creating visions, and fully understanding ourselves”

I heard about the EDEC’s project to create and strengthen youth councils in the regions” and decided to actively participate. So that youth council was established in Gori, and I was elected as a team leader. I would describe myself as a goal-oriented person, always trying to do what is good for society, although I realize that our society has less trust in individuals, when you represent an organization and have a team, the trust increases. EDEC allowed us to become an organization and solve many issues for social good.
The training organized by EDEC in Tskaltubo gave us as council members of different regions, the opportunity to deepen the connections between each other. After the training, Dusheti and Gurjaani youth councils visited us in Gori where we signed a memorandum of cooperation, developed a common strategy, and met with City Hall representatives and non-governmental organizations. We set future goals and planned to carry out various activities with the participation of the youth. One of them was the cyber sports competition, which started in January and brought together many young people.
Active involvement in public affairs gave us faith, united us into one strong team and set us more ambitious tasks, made new friends, and deepened social ties with youth councils of other regions. Enhancing young people has become one of our priority areas. Our initiative “Increasing voluntary involvement among youth” is the winner of the small grant competition announced by EDEC, which gave us a chance to implement a lot of important activities. I would mention the first public school of Karaleti, among them which created the theater and the students united and held a performance. The funds were fully transferred to the charity fund, which helps socially vulnerable children.
Humans are judged by what we do, the more positive impact we have on others, the stronger the community. A strong community in itself creates brave and independent generations, and we as individuals play a crucial role in it.
