The Education Development and Employment
Center (EDEC) conducted a Women Empowerment Training. Goal of the training was
to encourage women groups to initiate services regarding people with disabilities.
On the first day of the training, expert Neli
Akobia talked about social policies based on needs and rights. Best practices
of social services in the field of disability were also discussed. Moreover, expert
Marina Mchedlishvili talked about the modern approach in disability
classification.
Women participating in the training were
selected based on interviews in the different regions of Georgia.
The trainings
are organized within the framework of the EU-funded project “Equal
Opportunities for People with Disabilities.” It is implemented by
Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Georgia (ASB Georgia) in cooperation with its partner
organizations, the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) and Accessible
Environment for Everyone.
