Final event of the pilot project “Master of My House, Master of My Future!”

On December 7, 2018, the final event of the pilot project, “Master of My House, Master of My Future!” was held on the initiative of three NGO’s: the “Housing Initiative for Eastern Europe (IWO e.V.), the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) and the Charity Humanitarian Center “Abkhazeti” (CHCA).

The project “Master of My House, Master of My Future!” aims to train young IDP* leaders as housemasters for IDP settlements based on the basics of the German dual education system.

The participants of the final event were representatives from the Government of Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, the Kutaisi self-government, non-governmental organizations, Householders’ Associations from IDP settlements, and the project participants.

At the final event, the implemented activities and achieved results were presented. Discussions were held on the employment and self-employment perspectives for housemasters. At the end, the project participants were granted housemaster certificates.

The project, “Master of My House, Master of My Future!” provided an opportunity to 30 young leaders to develop their skills through the trainings conducted within the project and to master the profession. The top eight participants were granted a study visit in Germany where they became familiar with the specifics of housing and the local legislation of the country.

The project “Master of My House, Master of My Future!” is implemented by the Charity Humanitarian Center “Abkhazeti” (CHCA) and the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC). The project is financially supported by the Housing Initiative for Eastern Europe (IWO) and the European Education Center for Housing and Real Estate (EBZ). The project is also supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
