“Master of My House – Build-up for Future” – Training of Trainers accomplished

Twelve representatives of vocational
schools and service provider organizations participated in a four-day training.

The focus was on the general content of the janitor
course, the applied methodology, and the Georgian adaptation of German
experience. Amongst others, the following was discussed in detail:
responsibilities of the caretaker; construction defects; safety; inspection;
maintenance of a house; analysis of changes, target groups, and approaches;
communication; and conflict management.

Based on German experiences, training
modules have been worked out by the Education Development and Employment Center
in cooperation with the vocational college “Construct 2.” So far, three are
ready for implementation:

  • mandatory security measures to create a
    safe living environment – management of dangers and risks;
  • maintenance of communication systems in the
    building and elimination of defects;
  • maintenance of the building and elimination
    of defects.

The aims of the project are to support new caretaking
services and the introduction of the janitor profession in Georgia. Target
groups are young people, representatives of the vocational colleges, homeowner
associations, and decision-makers.

The project “Master of My House – Build up
for Future!” is implemented by the three NGOs Housing Initiative for Eastern
Europe (IWO), the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) and the
Charity Humanitarian Center “Abkhazeti” (CHCA) with the support of the German Ministry
of Foreign Affairs. The project is a sequel to the partners’ initial “Master of
My House – Master of My Future” initiative.
