Round table about supportive services for people with disabilities held in Rustavi

On the 24th of December, the Education
Development and Employment Center (EDEC) organized a round table in Rustavi
about supporting services for people with disabilities. Here, the respective needs,
problems, and challenges were discussed.

Natia Namicheishvili, Executive Director of
the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC), gave a speech about the
project and the discussion topics. Irakli Tabagua, Mayor of the Rustavi Municipality,
greeted all participants.

Later on, Guna Bibileishvili, Executive Director
and founder of the first Georgian parents’ organization “Child, Family, Society,”
held a presentation on the UN’s sustainable development goals for people with
disabilities, the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, current challenges and
future perspectives; Gia Jvarsheishvili, representative of “Inclusive Society
Georgia,” talked about support possibilities to allow blind people an independent
life.

The discussion was held within the framework of the EU-funded project “Equal Opportunities for People with
Disabilities.” It is implemented by Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Georgia (ASB
Georgia) in cooperation with the Education Development and Employment Center
(EDEC) and the movement Accessible Environment for Everyone (AEE).
