“Needs-based supportive services for People with Disabilities” – the round table tour moved on to Zugdidi

On February 14th, the round table meeting “Needs-based
supportive services for People with Disabilities” was organized by the
Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) in Zugdidi.

Lika Kiladze, Chair of the Board of the Education
Development and Employment Center (EDEC), and the mayor of the Zugdidi the municipality gave speeches on the project and the relevant discussion topics.

In the following,

  • Nino Skhulukhia, Head of the Social and Health
    Department of Zugdidi City Hall presented supporting programs for people with
    disabilities budgeted by the Zugdidi City Hall for 2020;
  • Madona Kharebava, Executive Director of the
    association “Dea,” talked about “Support for Employment of People with Disabilities;”
  • Eka Chavchavadze, Head of the Speech
    Development and Correction Center explained the importance of early
    intervention in speech therapy.

Konstantine Kakava, Deputy Mayor of the Zugdidi The municipality, Mamuka Tsotseria, Chairman of the City Council, Besik Chezhia, Deputy
Chairman of the City Council, and other members of the City Hall’s board responsible
for people with disabilities, as well as NGO representatives, attended the
meeting.

The discussion was held within the framework of the EU-funded project “Equal Opportunities for People with
Disabilities.” It is implemented by Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Georgia (ASB
Georgia) in cooperation with the Education Development and Employment Center
(EDEC) and the movement Accessible Environment for Everyone (AEE).
