Professional training course for welders is taking place in Zugdidi

A professional training course for welders
is taking place in Zugdidi based on the main principle of dual education, work-related
learning.

The theoretical part of the course is implemented
for the nine participants by the vocational college “Zugdidi Academy,” the
practical sessions are organized in close collaboration with the two partners “Mankanatmshenebeli”
Ltd. and “Kalakmsheni” Ltd.

“It is good, that new and young staff is trained
in this occupation, as there is a lack of professional welders,” mentioned Besik
Gardava, Director of Mankanatmshenebeli.

After completion of the vocational 200-hour
course, participants will undergo a paid three-month internship.

“I know that this is a highly demanded
profession and I will have the real chance to become employed. That’s why I
decided to be a participant in this course,” explained student Luka Shukaia.

The welders’ program is implemented as part
of the EU-funded project “EU4Youth – Enhancing Youth Education, Employment and
Participation in Conflict-affected Areas in Georgia and Ukraine.” The
initiative aims to widen education, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities
for internally displaced persons and conflict-affected youth and encourages
their significant participation in the community. In Georgia, it is implemented
by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and the Education Development and
Employment Center (EDEC).
