In the Samegrelo region, a vocational training program for
hairdresser started; it is based on the principles of dual education, which
means theoretical and practical lessons according to each specific job.
The participants of the course master the theoretical part
of the training program through online lectures provided by the public college “Zugdidi
Academy” and practical training will be held in various Zugdidi beauty salons.
Afterward, paid three-month internships will be offered in the same facilities.
The dual education program is part of the EU-funded project
“EU4Youth – Enhancing Youth Education, Employment and Participation in Conflict-affected
Areas in Georgia and Ukraine.” The initiative aims to widen education,
employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities for internally displaced persons
and conflict-affected youth and encourages their significant participation in
the community. In Georgia, it is implemented by the Danish Refugee Council
(DRC) and the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC).
