On November 18, Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) held a largescale online meeting on the topic: General education Challenges in the Time of COVID-19 Pandemic.

The meeting aims to review the challenges in general education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and to discuss existing alternatives of education policy, local and international best practices, challenges of remote inclusive education, and ways of overcoming them.

The meeting was opened by Lika Kiladze, the Chairperson of the Board of EDEC. Davit Chanturia, the Head of the Georgian Coalition for Education moderated the meeting.

The panel discussion was participated by Eka Dgebuadze, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia; Education experts – Simon Janashia and Revaz Apkhazava; Ana Laghidze, the Inclusive Education and Early Learning Expert at Save the Children Georgia and Natia Jokhadze, the Education Specialist at UNICEF. The meeting was also attended by the Civil Society Organization (CSO) representatives working in the education field and the heads of private schools. In total, up to 150 people attended the online meeting.

The online meeting was organized within the EU-funded project “Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disability”. In Georgia, the project is implemented by Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB) together with the partner organizations – Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) and Movement Accessible Environment (AEE).
