The General Assembly of a Settlement took place in Sakao on July 3, 2024,  the community center. The purpose of the assembly was to address important issues for the settlement with the involvement of the citizens of the Sakao community. The model of the General Assembly involves the population of Sakao (Oni municipality) and Tsutsukhati (Tkibuli municipality) in the budgeting process.

20% of the registered voters in Sakao community attended the general meeting. Citizens were given the opportunity to raise important infrastructural problems for the settlement and to identify the top 3 priority problems through voting. The issues raised by the population will be submitted to the municipal bodies (council/city hall) shortly, for consideration in the 2025 budget.

The General Assembly of the settlement was organized by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) in partnership with the Abkhazintercont (AIC), within the framework of the project “Citizens for Local Development”.

The project “Citizens for Local Development” is implemented with the support of the USAID Local Government Program, which is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Center with the partnership NGO “Abkhazintercont”.
