A sensory therapy room was opened at Samtredia daycare center for children with disability

On April 23, the opening ceremony of the sensory integration therapy room was held at the Lampari daycare center for children with disabilities, administered by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) in Samtredia.

The sensory therapy room was opened with the financial support of the International Women’s Association Georgia.

The introduction of sensory therapy at the center will help to relieve stress and tension of beneficiaries and improve emotional and mental health, which in turn will enhance the quality of rehabilitation services for the daycare center for children with disabilities.

The members of the International Women’s Association, social workers, and the representatives of the local government attended the event and had an opportunity to learn more about the daycare center activities.

Within the framework of the state-funded social rehabilitation and childcare program, the Education Development and Employment Center runs daycare centers in Kutaisi, Samtredia, Terjola, and Saguramo. The facilities provide dozens of children with disabilities (6-18 years) and their families with services based on individual needs; they aim to improve their functional, academic, and social skills.

The opportunity to renew the work at our daycare centers was given to us with the support from the organization Renovabis (Solidarity initiative of the German Catholics with the people in Central and Eastern Europe) in the framework of the project “Re-Opening of Four Day Care Centers for People with Disabilities in Georgia after Compulsory Corona-Closure”.
