A unique model of employment for people with disabilities created by EDEC transferred to the state

The closing event of the EU funded project “Educate, Employ, Advocate and Legislate for Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities” (EEAL) was held in Tbilisi.

The official part of the event was welcomed by Christian Danielsson, the Director-General for Neigbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission. 

The final results of the project were presented by Lika Kiladze, Chairperson of the board of the Education Development and Employment Center. Zaza Sopromadze, Director of the Social Service Agency talked about the sustainability of the unique employment model elaborated by the Education Development and Employment Center. This model will officially transferred to the state after the project is completed.

The winners of the media competition, also best employers were announced during the event. The screening of the the new movie was also held. 

The event was attanded by the representatives of government  and local authorities, the members of EU delegation of Georgia, employers and people with disabilities. 

The event was organized within the framework of the project “Educate, Employ, Advocate and Legislate for Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities” (EEAL) implemented by Kutaisi Education Development and Employment Center (KEDEC)* along with the Telavi Education Development and Employment Center and the Georgian Committee of the International Campaign to ban landmines “Ottawa -98” with financial assistance of the European Union. 

The project has been running since September 1, 2015 and has a total budget of € 377,981 (GEL 982,750). The project aims to support vocational education and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
