On March 20, 2024, in the village of Lagvanta, the administrative unit of Sakao. the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC), in partnership with the NGO Abkhazintercont (AIC), held an information meeting within the framework of the project “Citizens for Local Development”, the purpose of which was to inform the sakao community about the mechanisms of civic responsibility, management of budget funds and citizens’ involvement. The meeting was attended by representatives of the local self-government, the Sakao community, and other interested persons.
Zaza Chachava, a representative of the non-governmental organization Abkhazintercont (AIC), shared with the participants about the role of a citizen in a democratic society, the rights, duties, and responsibilities of a citizen, the management of budget funds and the mechanisms of citizen involvement, and shared practical examples of citizen involvement and success stories.
The goal of the project “Citizens for Local Development” is to promote the solution of acute problems in two communities of Oni and Tkibuli municipalities (Sakao and Tsutskhvati), with the partnership of local self-government, private and civil sectors and the active involvement of the rural community.
The project “Citizens for Local Development” is implemented with the support of the USAID Local Government Program, which is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Center with the partnership NGO Abkhazintercont.
