The Education Development and Employment
Center (EDEC), in partnership with Georgia Alliance for Safe Roads, has joined
the campaign “European Day Without A Road Death” (Project EDWARD).
In the framework of the campaign, members
of PITA’s Youth Center and schools’ civil clubs organized a road safety
campaign at the city’s pedestrian crossings. Certificates and motivational
gifts were given to those drivers and pedestrians who followed traffic rules.
Giorgi Tchighvaria, Mayor of Kutaisi, and
Bakar Babukhadia, representative of the Georgian Roads Department in Imereti, also
joined the road safety campaign.
The campaign aims to promote a “road safety
culture” and reduce the number of road accident fatalities by raising road
users’ awareness. “European Day Without A Road Death” was first launched in
2016 and ever since celebrated every year, on the 26th of September, in almost every
European country.
The Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) has created a video clip for the campaign, in which people of different professions make
their public pledge to follow road safety rules.
