“Let’s Clean Svaneti Together!” – is one of the winning initiatives of the Contest for Volunteering Initiatives announced by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC). The campaign, which aims to reduce environmental pollution and encourage the participation of youth in volunteering activities is implemented by Upper Svaneti Local Action Group (LAG Upper Svaneti) within the “Georgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” project.
Within the campaign, installation of information boards and waste bins and running volunteering cleaning activities in 5 most polluted areas of the region, namely in the following communities of Mestia municipality: Kala, Ipari, Tsvirmi, Mulakhi, and Nakra is planned. The local population and especially the youth will be actively involved in the campaign activities. The participants will be trained regarding environmental protection and the important risks caused by environmental pollution, waste management, and safety issues.
The Contest for Volunteering Initiatives is implemented within the ”Georgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” project. The contest aims to support the promotion of volunteering, raise awareness of civil society, and increase their participation in civic activities through volunteering.
”Georgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” was developed and is implemented by the consortium lead by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in cooperation with four Georgian Civil Society Organizations: Civil Society Institute (CSI), Center for Training and Consultancy (CTC), Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG) and Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC). The project is funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
