The vocational education course in hotel management
was successfully finished by all nine participants. The program was implemented
in cooperation with the vocational college Zugdidi Academy, as well as the
three local hotels Divani, Anaklia, and Grant Hotel.
The final exam was taken at Shota Meskhia
State University and included amongst others presentations and role-plays in guest
reception, reservations, customer and complaint management, s well as checkout procedures.
The certification process was evaluating participants’ professional knowledge but
also general skills.
The testing commission included
representatives from the business sector (all three partnering hotels), the vocational
college Zugdidi Academy and the Education Development and Employment Center
(EDEC).
The Hotel Management Course is part of the EU-funded
project “EU4Youth – Enhancing Youth Education, Employment and Participation in
Conflict-affected Areas in Georgia and Ukraine.” The initiative aims to
widen education, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities for internally
displaced persons and conflict-affected youth and encourages their significant
participation in the community. In Georgia, it is implemented by the Danish
Refugee Council (DRC) and the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC).
