In the framework of the project “Protecting IDP Rights during the COVID-19 Crisis in Georgia”, the third phase of a 21-day online training course for peer educators has started. The course includes a 6-day online training about human and child rights (domestic violence and the impact, prevention, and nonviolent response to COVID-19).
The training is conducted by the guest trainer Tamar Ebralidze.
Within the training, the participants will be introduced to the following important issues:
- human rights, history of origin, children’s rights;
- the role of the state and society as defenders;
- the special protection groups of the state (women, minors, persons with disability, the elders);
- domestic violence and its types;
- COVID-19 Impact on the domestic violence growth rate, femicide growth rate, protection mechanisms;
- the role of the state in the prevention and suppression of domestic violence;
- legal practice in domestic violence cases.
The project is implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) aiming to support IDPs and conflict-affected youth to get involved in solving the challenges and problems created in their communities as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
