The winner project “Local Media to Support Young People” from Shida Kartli

“The goal of our project is media support and empowerment of young people living in Gori municipality. In particular, with our activities, we are trying to create a media environment adapted to the needs of young people in the municipality. Gvantsa Doluashvili, head of “Mozaika”.

The project “Local Media to Support Young People” has emerged victorious in the grant competition for civic initiatives among young people, which is being implemented by the Gori community radio “Mozaika”.

Young people living in Gori municipality have the desire and willingness, through their activism, to help change the situation in their community for the better, however, the voice of these young people is not properly heard in the local media and, accordingly, in the municipality as well – their needs are less covered, young people are rarely allowed to spread their ideas with the help of the media. , a way to find new like-minded people, and supporters, and often, young people are deprived of the opportunity to conduct media advocacy campaigns on their own needs. All of this ultimately leads to important and urgent issues being left outside the local political agenda. It is with the desire to change this situation that we decided to participate in the competition.

As a result of the project, a media will be developed in Gori Municipality, which will respond to the interests of young people and groups/organizations working with them with its editorial policy – “Mozaika” will gather information about the problems of young people, as well as the activities and visions planned to solve them. For those young people who have the desire and readiness, through their activism, to help change the situation in their community for the better, “Mosaika” becomes an accessible platform from which to voice their ideas and demands, reach a wider audience, and find new like-minded people and supporters. they will be able to.

In addition, for governmental and non-governmental groups working on youth issues, “Mosaica” becomes a support link for providing information to target groups. Constant coverage of youth problems and needs will help the local authorities in determining their work and priorities.

Overall, as a result of the implementation of the project, a supportive media environment for young people will be created in Gori municipality, which will contribute to the development and strengthening of young people.
