“The implementation of this project will primarily assist us in raising awareness among more young people about the rights and responsibilities of volunteers. This, in turn, will ensure the achievement of the primary objectives of our organization’s activities. Furthermore, our victory in the competition marks another significant milestone on the path to success and growth that our organization is currently on.” – Khatia Khabashvili, director
Official studies show that young people in Gori are less involved in volunteering activities. Although many projects are implemented at the local level, the same faces are often seen in these projects. Therefore, our project aims to popularize volunteering in Gori municipality, increase young people’s awareness about the rights and duties of volunteers, and make less active young people more active through informal education methods. It is worth noting that we have won the EDEC’s small grant competition for the second time. In 2022, our project “Young People for the Rights of Volunteers” won the competition, during which we raised awareness among 500 young people in the municipality of Gori about “volunteering” and the 2015 Law of Georgia through the component of equal educators. This year, we expanded the project’s idea and activities even more, including various contests, quizzes, and film screenings.
We established our organization “Youth for Community Rights” in 2020 while we were still students. We started from scratch, worked hard as volunteers, and developed every day, providing more young people with the opportunity to develop with us. We implemented projects that helped young people raise their legal awareness, often at our own expense, and completely voluntarily. Sometimes, I even bought participants’ certificates or winners’ gifts with the scholarship that the state paid me as an excellent student. I never expected anything in return, except for the happy, motivated, and bright eyes of the project participants, which was and still is the most important thing for me. I believe that true volunteerism is based on selfless activity. Currently, we have many innovations in the organization, including our own website YSR.GE, and we will provide free legal advice in civil, administrative, and criminal law on a voluntary basis. We have been in existence for almost four years, and during this time, we have always thought about young people. We have acquired several partners, natural or legal persons, gathered a lot of young people, and finally became one big family.
