The winning project from Kakheti

“Community activism and volunteering, cooperation of students and youth from non-dominant and dominant groups is important to strengthen their sense of belonging to school and community”

Lia Kadagidze – teacher, head of the “Journalists Club”.

During my many years of practice in educational institutions, I often encountered a lack of competence in social inclusion of non-dominant groups and sharing tolerance and cultural diversity among students. The existing problem is relevant for Dedoplistskaro municipality and the educational institutions operating in it. The rate of participation of ethnically non-Georgian children in the educational process is low. Also, they don’t participate in informal, volunteering activities, they don’t get involved in municipal events.

Within the framework  of the mentioned project, we chose such an initiative, which would be useful for the community and the struggling students.

Our goal is to support the social inclusion of children and youth from non-dominant groups in Dedoplistskaro and to strengthen the practice of volunteers in the community by developing the competence of tolerance.

Winning the competition is a motivation that will contribute to the implementation of the project on the one hand, and on the other hand, with this approach, in addition to speaking and calling for tolerance and cooperation, children and young people can practice cultural sensitivity, use of non-discriminatory language and assertive communication skills in their interactions with each other and the community.
