The winning project from Samegrelo

“We aim to raise awareness among young people about environmental and volunteer activities, demonstrate the impact of human activities on the environment, and present sustainable solutions for waste management.”-  Fatima Ejibia, teacher and head of Ecoclub “Dafiona”.

Since 2019, the eco-club “Dafiona” in the public school of village Darchel #2, Zugdidi, has participated in the “Niko Ketskhoveli School Award” competition by CENN, focusing on environmental and volunteer activities aligned with sustainable development goals and receiving recognition as a three-time semi-finalist.

To further promote environmental issues and the significance of volunteering, the club applied for and won a small grant competition held by the Center for Education Development and Employment. Their project “The Role of Volunteering in the Sustainable Development of the Environment” aims to educate young people about environmental and volunteer activities and introduce sustainable waste management solutions.

The project addresses the damage caused by modern human activities to the environment and aims to create a sustainable, developed, and eco-friendly community, a vision successfully implemented by Ecoclub “Dafiona.”
