The winning project from Shida Kartli

“Through the implementation of the project, young people will analyze the essence and importance of volunteering in personal development and improving the quality of life of society, and within the project, they will have the opportunity to plan volunteer activities according to the interest of their peers, thus developing the skills of planning and implementing activities.” – Mariam Ispiriani – youth worker, lawyer – founder and director of “Inclusive Education and Development Platform”

Volunteering has always been an important and enjoyable activity for me, ever since I was a student. My volunteer work has covered a wide range of areas. I participated in the EVS project in Poland, where I gained valuable experience working with young people. Additionally, I organized various educational activities for primary school students.

For one year, I served as the leader of the SKYE program at the Crime Prevention Center of the State Police. Within this program, I planned sessions for young people between the ages of 14 and 22 in three main areas: leadership, employability skills, and active citizenship. In addition to providing practical training, I organized various activities with the project participants, such as cleaning campaigns, exhibitions, charity events, and other ideas that catered to the interests of the club members. Through this experience, I developed my skills in working with young people and collaborating as part of a team. I have accrued a great deal of social capital in the form of organizations, friends, acquaintances, various platforms, information, or knowledge.

I also served as the head of a volunteer club created under the “Volunteer of Georgia” project. Over a period of six months, the club planned and executed more than 30 activities that helped to raise awareness of the importance of volunteering among the public.

As a volunteer, I also conducted remote meetings through Facebook Live, covering topics such as CV writing, cover letters, interview skills, how to use Gmail more effectively, and various volunteer projects. I initiated these sessions during the COVID-19 pandemic when we had to maintain social distance from each other. Through this effort, I aimed to share my experience and knowledge.

I love helping people, sharing information, and creating opportunities for young people to become initiators themselves and develop the skills to achieve their goals independently. That’s why I decided to participate in the EDEC competition, where I presented a project aimed at raising awareness of the importance of volunteering, forming volunteer groups, implementing small initiatives, and promoting volunteers.ge to involve more young people in volunteering.

Winning the competition would be a great motivation for our newly established organization to implement this project and develop various skills for Kaspeli youth. This would provide them with opportunities to carry out many useful activities and introduce them to the culture of volunteering.
