A total of 36 IDPs and conflict-affected young
people expressed their interest to participate in the vocational short-term
training program for cooks in Gori.
Once selected, participants will take a 300-hour
course including practical and theoretical sessions to gain the
profession-specific skills and knowledge. After completion, a paid three-months
internship in different types of food establishments follows, which will improve
their employability and options.
The cooks’ program is implemented as part of
the EU-funded project “EU4Youth – Enhancing Youth Education, Employment and
Participation in Conflict-affected Areas in Georgia and Ukraine.” The
initiative aims to widen education, employment, and entrepreneurial
opportunities for internally displaced persons and conflict-affected youth and
encourages their significant participation in the community. In Georgia, it is
implemented by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and the Education Development
and Employment Center (EDEC).
