Visit of the EU Representative to EDEC

Jurate Juodsnukyte, the Attaché of Labour Market, Migration and Gender at EU Delegation to Georgia visited the Education Development and Employment Center in Kutaisi today.

The meeting was held where Lika Kiladze, the Chairperson of the Board of the organization presented the achieved results  and future plans within the framework of the EU-funded project “Learn for Employment”. The meeting was attended by representatives of employer companies, professional college and organizations working in the field of business development.

The first part of the meeting was dedicated to tourism development issues. Discussions were held with the State Employment Support Agency, the Public College “Iberia” and the enterprise “Baia’s Wine”. The second part of the meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the challenges in the labor market. The following companies and organizations took part in the discussion: “Sairme”, “Crystal”, “Extramit”, “Imeri”, “Tavtukhi”, “Packer Cluster”, “Chamber of Commerce”, “Business Incubator”, “Peaceful and Business Caucasus” , “Women Entrepreneurs Foundation”.

The EU-funded project “Learn, Exercise, Achieve, Receive, Network for Employment! (LEARN for Employment!)“ is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC), the Telavi Education Development and Employment Center (TEDEC), the Employment Agency of the Autonomous Region of Adjara (EAARA), Abkhazintercont (AIC) and the Guria Youth Resource Center (GYRC).

The project implemented in six regions of Georgia – Imereti, Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi, Adjara, Shida Kartli, and Kakheti – aims to promote an efficient transition model from education to the labor market largely supporting increased employment, social integration, and decreased poverty and vulnerability levels.

Employment Centers have been opened in the mentioned six regions. The centers offer career development and employment services to job seekers. Over 2000 people has already benefitted from the mentioned services since the beginning of the project.
