On February 3, the Education Development and Employment Center (TEDEC) together with the UN Association of Georgia (UNAG) held a meeting with the representative of Shida Kartli self-government about the development of employment support services in the region.
The meeting aimed to discuss the model of regional councils which will encourage the promotion of employment support services and social dialogue and to plan the future cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Simon Guledani, the Deputy State Representative in Shida Kartli, Vladimer Khinchegashvili, the Mayor of Gori Municipality, Zaza Guliashvili, the Mayor of Kareli Municipality, Vakhtang Maisuradze, the Mayor of Kaspi Municipality and Tengi Chitiashvili, the Mayor of Khashuri Municipality.
Lika Kiladze, the Chairman of the Board of EDEC and the Manager of the “Learn for Employment” Project opened the meeting and introduced the goals of the round table to the participants, and presented the model of regional councils for promoting social dialogue. Nino Megrelishvili, the Job Consultant talked about the achieved results and planned activities within the future and talked about the labor market challenges in the region. The discussion was held at the end of the meeting.

The EU-funded project “Learn, Exercise, Achieve, Receive, Network for Employment! (LEARN for Employment!)“ is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC), the Telavi Education Development and Employment Center (TEDEC), the Employment Agency of the Autonomous Region of Adjara (EAARA), Abkhazintercont (AIC) and the Institute for Change and Innovation (ICI). The project implemented in six regions of Georgia – Imereti, Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi, Adjara, Shida Kartli, and Kakheti – aims to promote an efficient transition model from education to the labor market largely supporting increased employment, social integration, and decreased poverty and vulnerability levels.
“The local Investments in Networks for Knowledge and Skill-share (LINKS)” project, funded through the larger EU’s Skills4Jobs Programme, is implemented by the United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG) and the Open Society Foundation Georgia (OSGF). The project aims to contribute to increased quality and accessibility of skills anticipation, skills development and skills matching services, and to their improved alignment with demands of the local labour markets in the four target regions of Georgia: Adjara, Guria, Kvemo Kartli, and Shida Kartli.
